Internet backgammon sites are always looking for the next big trend to attract players with and lately I think a few sites may have found it.  A friend showed me a site he found that offered play on these really unique backgammon sets.  The casino had uploaded the design of amazing backgammon boards from all over the world, some of them hundreds of years old, so you can play them virtually online.  It’s actually a lot of fun and the boards are really neat.  The casinos also created their own backgammon sets and made them interactive, so your checkers can be army figures and fight each other on the board.  It might not be what you’re looking for when you’re in competitive play but for when you’re taking a break and just want to mess around these backgammon sets are a ton of fun to play.

Internet backgammon has sure come a long way from the early days of online casino games.  I remember when I first got involved with online gambling and the backgammon games were just really simple.  You didn’t have all the graphics and special features that you find today.  And now with the ability to play virtual backgammon sets from hundreds of years ago, I get the feeling there are lots more surprises in store for us with internet backgammon.
